Wilson Golf Clubs - Reviews

Are Wilson golf clubs at or near the top of your list when you decide to start shopping for new clubs? Probably not. Do golf clubs even pop into your head whenever you think about all the gear for different sports Wilson Sporting Goods makes? Be honest, now.

You probably do think of Wilson when you need stuff to play football. If you have a kid who plays soccer, you might think of Wilson in connection with soccer gear. Tennis, baseball and basketball gear are a few other possibilities. After all, Wilson is one of the world's leading sporting goods manufacturers. But most people probably wouldn't think of Wilson golf clubs - not even golfers. And most people know Tiger Woods plays Nike clubs. A lot of golfers know Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson play Callaways. But can you even name a single professional golfer who plays them? Probably not, but Padraig Harrington and Rickie Barnes are two of the pros who do.

The point I'm trying to make is that these clubs are like the Rodney Dangerfield of golf equipment: they "don't get no respect." (I know that phrase isn't grammatically correct, but that's how Dangerfield always said it).

So, how come these clubs tend to be overlooked when golfers are in the market for clubs?

Frankly, I'm not sure. As it turns out, the company makes a full line of golf equipment, including all the different types of golf clubs you might want. And some of those clubs are pretty darn good. Otherwise why would Padraig Harrington (or Rickie Barnes, for that matter) play them? Even better, most of these clubs are reasonably priced, especially when you compare their prices to those of the "big dogs" in the golf equipment world - companies like Callaway, PING, TaylorMade and Titleist.

So, I set out on a mission: to find out more about them and then share what I learn with our readers here on the website. That means we'll be reviewing select Wilson golf clubs here on www.checkyourgolf.com. For example, we review the 2011 Wilson DXi driver lineup on another page of this site, the Wilson Staff Vizor putter, the Wilson Di11 irons, the Wilson Staff DXi hybrids and as I catch up with my backlog of golf equipment to evaluate and review, we'll be adding reviews of other Wilson golf clubs from time to time.

Wilson golf clubs include some pretty fine drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons. Wilson Sporting Goods makes wedges and putters, too, which a lot of golfers aren't even aware of. The company even makes ladies clubs and complete sets. All of this means Wilson is making some pretty exciting golf clubs that not enough people know about. I'm looking forward to sharing what I find out when I take Wilson golf clubs out onto the driving range and golf course.
